Asian/Filipino-American Filmmaker Jerell Rosales’ films have been screened at 100+ festivals nationally and internationally. With a BA and MFA from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television, he’s earned various awards, including a rare two-time win of the UCLA’s Directors Spotlight Award, the Humanitas Prize David and Lynn Angell College Comedy Award, and the Caucus Foundation for Producers, Writers, and Directors production grant. Jerell is a directing fellow in Film Independent’s signature diverse artist development program, Project Involve, and the Blackmagic Breakthrough Initiative.His television directorial debut, a made-for-TV movie titled HIGH SCHOOL LOVER, stars Paulina Singer, Lana Condor, François Arnaud, and James Franco. The film was broadcasted on Lifetime/A+E Networks in the United States, TF1 in France, and HBO in Romania and Hungary. The film was later released on DVD by Lionsgate Home Video.More recently, Rosales premiered his latest short film, THE TERRORIST, at the 2020 Austin Film Festival, where it garnered a Jury Award Honorable Mention.Jerell is a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Digital Media Department at Utah Valley University, where he teaches Cinematic Directing. He is currently working on adaptations of the National Book Award Finalist, PATRON SAINTS OF NOTHING, and the recently released FREDDIE VS. THE FAMILY CURSE.
