I have been a professional photographer for more than 15 years. Each year since 2013 (before that I was a volunteer photographer) I have been a contract photographer for Sundance Institute during the Sundance Film Festival, based primarily in Park City for the duration covering press lines, film introductions and Q&As, panel discussions, parties, awards shows, private events and other subjects. The rest of the year I photograph theatre dress rehearsals for The Grand Theatre and Highland High School in Salt Lake City, corporate events local and out-of-state, portraiture, weddings and, since May, 2023, nearly 70 concerts (as of 10/22/24) for The State Room Presents (on trade for tickets). I have also been working for the past year on photographing and documenting stories of the unhoused for the nonprofit Amplify Utah, for which I am also a board member (I am a former professional journalist/photojournalist).
Very comfortable in and adept at photographing in low-light and/or quiet situations, including film sets, theatre settings and concerts. I currently shoot with Canon bodies R5 and R6 Mark II, using primarily a 70-200 2.8 and the remarkable 28-70 2.0 lenses. I strive to get it right in camera and for very quick turnaround times for client images. For about 15 years I was also a full-time and freelance reporter/writer and photojournalist for The Deseret News, Salt Lake Tribune, Continuum Magazine (U of U alumni pub), City Weekly and others, with a few awards to my name. I also worked more recently as the lead photographer and writer at Salt Lake Community College's Institutional Marketing and Communications department, leading the nationally-recognized SLCC Magazine and elevating SLCC's presence in the valley by contributing images for billboards, pole banners, train wraps and other ad campaigns in and around Salt Lake City.
