Description
I am Kamiko Ho’okano, a Hawaiian film producer based in Utah that wants to bring bold ideas to life with a passion for telling interesting stories and a drive to grow and mentor others. I have seven years of experience producing various narrative, commercial, and podcast projects. In 2025 I produced two award-winning shorts, “Be Not Afraid”, which won “Best Acting” at the Salt Lake City 48 Hour Film Festival and was selected to the 2025 FilmQuest film festival. And “Missoula” which won a $5,000 grant from FearPix as part of the 2025 Jakob Owens Horror Short Film Contest. I was also able to be a production assistant for the feature film, “Edge of Normal”, starring Chloe Grace Moretz and script supervise another feature, “Halloween Pizza Party”. Both are looking to receive a 2026 theatrical release. In 2024, I produced three award-winning projects. The first project, “Till Death Do Us Part”, won a $1,000 grant from the “First Flights Film Fund” as part of a pitch that I built and submitted. Through the grant, the film was a selection at the Oscar-Qualifying Short Film Festival, “HollyShorts”, at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, CA. The next project, "SED" , won third place at the “Jakob Owens Horror Short Competition”. And my last project of 2024, “The Doritos Monster”, was a semi-finalist for Doritos' “Crash the Super Bowl” competition and stars JK! Studios Jeremy Warner and Stacey Harkey. Additionally, a project I produced in 2023, “Sheet Talk", was a top 10 finisher at “Filmapalooza" international film festival 2024, and got selected to go to the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. On top of the films I’ve produced, I run a weekly film podcast called “Sweet Film Talk” for eight years and over 325 episodes. We have interviewed many renowned directors such as Uwe Boll and Chris Stuckmann, along with being featured in the marketing for “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”. Film is my life and I love bringing them to life.
